Turfgrass is temperamental. It needs to be well fed. It needs to be watched closely for disease and signs of pests that would gladly eat it. It needs to be cut correctly and conditioned carefully. If you choose a company that is licensed, experienced and has been well trained, well then, that's the right choice.

Thatch (that thick, mat like layer of dead leaves, grass and weed rhizomes laying directly on top of soil) builds up over the growing season. Removing this twice a year is included with our Turfgrass Management Program and helps keep your lawn healthy and greener.
This is the process of removing small cores of soil and grass to improve the lawns ability to breathe. Lawn soils become compacted over time and this increased soil density restricts air flow, choking your grass. Aeration performed in a timely manner keeps your grass from slowly dying. This vital service is included in our Turfgrass Management program
By systematically seeding your correctly prepared lawn with new premium grass seed you can dramatically improve the health and appearance of your lawn, and increase resistance to seasonal drought stress. The preparation and planting of premium seed is an integral part of our Turfgrass Management Program.
Amend your turfgrass soil by adding a layer of custom mixed organic material directly on top of your properly prepared lawn in the process known as topdressing. The results are often stunning and a reason why our lawn treatment leads to lawn envy! Included with our Turfgrass Management Program
Lawns Inc uses this technology in our Lawn Treatment Program to identify and address soil chemistry issues before the turfgrass plant is effected. Testing with this method does not replace the Agricultural Extension soil laboratory results, but rather provides a useful correlation for quick field reference. Included with our Turfgrass Management Program.
Nutrient depletion of residential lawn soil has traditionally been addressed with extensive fertilizer application. A professional option, "micro-dosing" uses a program of regular testing and routine application of small measured amounts of nutrients to stop the cycle. In our Lawn Treatment option, this cost effective solution is used in conjunction with real time soil chemistry readings to enhance turfgrass color, root strength, and overall health. Included with our Turfgrass Management Program
We refer to our business philosophy as "Sharp Blade Service" because we realize the best looking lawn on the lane is cut by the sharpest blades on the block. That's why we sharpen our blades before every cut. Of these two actual blades, which one would you want to shave with? Our commitment to excellence in lawn finishing is unparalleled. A part of our outstanding lawn finishing
There are many ways to get this wrong, but get it right and the whole neighborhood will notice. Lawn Fertilization is both a science and an art. And when it comes to green, Lawns Inc. has the art down to a science. Included in our Turfgrass Management Program
Some look for weeds amongst their grass, others look for grass amongst their weeds. All we are saying, is don't give weeds a chance. Put your beetles behind you, and let Lawns Inc. do what we do for you. Service included with our Turfgrass Management Program
When leaves pile up, they risk degrading your lawn. When necessary to prevent damage from fungi, mold and pests, we will sweep and vacuum the lawn and haul the detritus away. Included in our Turfgrass Management Program
As a whole, procedures to control cross contamination of your lawn are notably absent from the residential lawn care industry.
It's unfortunate that when some providers arrive, they bring along with them the remnants of broadleafs, sedges, rushes, annual bluegrass and crabgrasses from previously cut lawns.
Lawns Inc., as NC Turfgrass Council Certified Professionals are committed to higher standards. During our pre-cut "Sharp Blade Service", we clean and disinfect our equipment both above deck and below deck. Part of our outstand lawn finishing.
Our weekly green thumb service will remove twigs which invite mold, and any old annuals and dead plants which serve as beetle habitat. We deep remove weeds to the root and snip any dying or dead leaves.
Flower beds that have overgrown their boundaries will be trimmed down and back. Large, creeping or aggressive flowers will receive a large bed of their own. Delicate flowers that need protection will be transplanted within clearly defined bed boundaries separated by hard stops.
Once beds are redefined, the edge will be installed to present a distinct crisp contrast between each other and from the lawn.
If desired to add or enlarge an existing garden, or as needed as part of a flower bed soil amendment, we can manually scarify or power rototill.
Soil nutrient levels will be tested and amended to meet the NPK balance required for the chosen flowers. If necessary, flower choices will be altered to meet similar requirements.
Your garden soil needs to have the proper drainage, compaction, and nutrients. Mulching with the best local humic material helps to ensure excellent results from your flower beds each year.
To plant your ornamentals correctly, we will choose plants suited to our local climate, and your light conditions. We then prepare the soil properly by ensuring good drainage and adding organic matter, and plant at the correct depth. Pre-water and amend soil.

Watering ornamental plants requires a thoughtful approach to ensure healthy growth and prevent issues like root rot. We allow the soil to dry out slightly between weekly deep waterings. We water in the morning at the base and avoid foliage.
Fertilizing ornamental plants involves providing essential nutrients, primarily nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Less established shrubs and trees receive a single annual application in early spring, Mature plants or those in sandy soil will also be fed a second application in late summer.
Primary pruning is the pruning of ornamental plants to improve the health, and flowering of your plants. It is essential to remove dead, dying, diseased, damaged, or deformed foliage to stimulate new growth. In this strategic pruning, timing, technique and experience are crucial for successful pruning, Secondary pruning is only for the purpose of shaping plants and managing their size.
Mulching ornamental plants offers numerous benefits, including weed suppression, moisture retention, and temperature regulation. It also adds to the aesthetic appeal of the garden. However, proper application is crucial to avoid potential issues like rot or pest infestations.
Effective management of pests and diseases in ornamental plants involves a combination of preventative measures and targeted treatments. This includes practices like choosing disease-resistant varieties, maintaining good sanitation, proper watering and fertilization, and using appropriate pesticides when necessary.

One to three hours per week
You cannot use a lawn mower to cut your grass and trim your shrubs and snip dead leaves off your flowers. One tool is not suited for every job. Likewise, one pricing model will not work for all landscaping jobs. We use the best of three methods to determine a fair price. For jobs where we are not certain how long a job will take, we charge hourly. For jobs where we feel confident of what our labor and materials costs will be, we are able to charge per unit (per sq.ft. or per ¼ acre). And for jobs where our time, labor and material costs are set, we are able to set a flat rate price per item. That answers how we charge...what we charge is..
Recurrent clients $95/hr.
"One time" clients $105/hr.
1/2 hr. minimum.
Time to the next largest .25 hr
Time measured "curb to curb".
There is no simple answer. We suggest that you hire a turfgrass professional you trust to do the job right, then let them.
